He learned in detail about the state of the preparedness of warships of the surface ship flotilla for combat and war and the military service of the soldiers and the plan for updating the naval port.

After getting on the Amnok class corvette Amnok (No. 661), he acquainted himself in detail with its weapons and preparations for combat, and highly praised the ship for maintaining high mobility and mighty striking power, and constant preparedness for combat to cope with sudden situation.

That day he watched the seamen of the patrol ship staging a drill of launching strategic cruise missiles.

The drill aimed to reconfirm the combat function of the ship and the feature of its missile system and make the seamen skilled at carrying out the attack mission in actual war, the ship rapidly hit the target without even an error. As a result, the ship's regular posture for mobilization and offensive ability were perfectly appreciated.

He said that the North Korean Navy would put spurs to the modernization of naval weapons and equipment including the building of powerful warships and the development of shipboard and underwater weapon systems.

About the corvette Amnok

According to Taepodong, Amnok features a manually operated aiming sight complemented by other sensors, a 6-pack launcher for Man-Portable Air Defence Missiles, and a 30 mm 6-barrel gatling gun.

For underwater threats, she has 533 mm torpedo tubes and rocket-assisted depth charges. The ship's offensive capabilities are further enhanced with anti-ship cruise missiles and a 100 mm manually operated gun.

Defensively, the corvette boasts two fire control radars, a short-range low altitude and surface search radar, and electro-optics. Additionally, she has a 14.5 mm 6-barrel gatling gun and a potential hull-mounted sonar for submarine detection.
