The BRF Jacques Chevallier is the inaugural force replenishment vessel of the "Logistic Support Ship" (FLOTLOG) program, helmed by the DGA in collaboration with Italy, under a contract overseen by OCCAR.

The vessel was first launched on April 29, 2022, at the Chantiers de l'Atlantique site in St-Nazaire. Before being admitted into active service, the ship will undergo an extended deployment.

The Logistic Support Ship (LSS) Programme, managed by the Organisation Conjointe de Coopération en Matière d'Armement (OCCAR), signifies an essential milestone for Italian and French naval capabilities.

The program involves the development, production, and in-service support of six modern, interoperable, double-hulled support vessels, designed to comply with current environmental regulations and replace outdated naval tankers.
