Israel delivers 2 Shaldag Mk. V fast attack craft to Philippines Navy.

According to information published by Israel Shipyards on November 22,2023, the company announces the successful delivery of the third batch of SHALDAG Mk. V fast attack interdiction craft to the Philippine Navy.

The vessels, arriving on November 18, will be integrated into the Acero-class FAICs, significantly enhancing the capabilities of the Philippine Navy's Littoral Combat Force.

Shaldag MK V

The Shaldag MK V is part of the Shaldag Class, notable for its all-aluminum structure, lightness, and high-speed capabilities. With a Length Over All (LOA) of 32.65 meters and a maximum beam of 6.20 meters, the vessel has a displacement of about 95 tons.

It achieves a maximum speed above 40 knots and offers a range of 1000 Nautical Miles at 12 knots. This vessel is designed primarily for naval security missions, offering enhanced payload capacity.

It is engineered for high maneuverability and seakeeping, suitable for operations in distant arenas. The Shaldag MK V is designed to be cost-effective, maintaining a high firepower-to-displacement ratio, and is commonly utilized in the protection of littoral and Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) waters.

Acero class

The Acero class, with a full load displacement of 95 tons, measures 32.65 meters in length and has a maximum beam of 6.2 meters, with a draft of 1.25 meters. It is propelled by two MTU 16V 4000 M70 Diesel Engines and two MJP-J650 waterjets, allowing a maximum speed greater than 40 knots. The vessel has a range of 1,000 nautical miles at 15 knots and accommodates a complement of 12.

Equipped with advanced sensors and processing systems, the Acero class features the Furuno Navnet 3D X-band radar for navigation and surface search, along with the Rafael Toplite electro-optical tracking system (EOTS).

Its armament includes a Rafael Typhoon MLS-NLOS missile launcher for eight Spike-NLOS surface-to-surface missiles (on four ships), a Mk.44 Bushmaster II autocannon on a Rafael Typhoon Mk 30-C remote-controlled station, two M2HB Browning 12.7 mm/50-cal. heavy machine guns on Rafael Mini Typhoon stations, and two M60 7.62 mm/30-cal. GP machine guns.
