The ceremony took place at the RSS Singapura - Changi Naval Base, with significant figures from both navies in attendance, including the Singapore Chief of Navy, RADM Sean Wat, and the Acting Commander RBN, CAPT Haji Mohamad Sarif Pudin Bin Matserudin.

The Fearless-class Patrol Vessels have played a crucial role in safeguarding Singapore's maritime interests for the past 25 years. With this transfer, there are high hopes that the vessels, KDB As-Siddiq and Al-Faruq, will serve the RBN with equal distinction, further promoting a vision of safety and security across the region's seas.

Technical data

These vessels have a displacement of 500 tons and measure 55.0 meters in length with a beam of 8.6 meters and a draught of 2.7 meters.

They are powered by two MTU 12 V 595 TE 90 diesel engines, which are linked to ZF gear boxes that drive two Kamewa Waterjets. This setup allows the vessels to reach speeds over 20 knots and have a range of 1,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 15 knots.

They are equipped with an IAI/ELTA EL/M-2228(X) search radar and a Kelvin Hughes 1007 navigation radar. The initial six ships in this class also feature a Thales Underwater Systems TSM 2362 Gudgeon hull-mounted medium frequency active sonar. For weapon control, they utilize the Elbit MSIS optronic director.

The vessels come with an Elisra NS 9010C ESM and a Rafael C-Pearl M. They are further equipped with two GEC Marine Shield III 102 mm sextuple fixed chaff launchers.

They are fitted with Mistral missiles for anti-air capabilities, while the first six ships have EuroTorp A244/S Mod 1 torpedoes for anti-submarine tasks. Their primary weapon is the Oto Melara 76 mm gun, and they also carry four STK 50MG 12.7 mm machine guns for additional defense.
