The Metal Shark 115 Defiant is engineered for a broad spectrum of missions including border patrol, law enforcement, customs enforcement, anti-drug activities, fisheries protection, and the patrol of economically significant maritime areas. Its adaptable design allows it to effectively coordinate search and rescue or disaster response operations.

It features a subtly sloped reverse-raked bow to minimize resistance and enhance stability in rough waters. It features a fully welded aluminum structure with multiple watertight compartments and reinforced structural components. The vessel's substantial beam exceeds 27 feet, providing considerable stability whether in motion or stationary. Access to all tanks and machinery spaces is secured through watertight doors and hatches.

Powered by twin 1,600-horsepower CAT C32 engines, the 115 Defiant achieves efficient, long-range capability with a cruising range of 2,000 nautical miles at 12 knots and can reach speeds above 20 knots. It supports a crew of 24 for durations of up to ten days.

Deck design on the 115 Defiant maximizes payload space and ensures safe, easy movement across the vessel. Deck paths are broad and coated with non-slip surfaces, illuminated by low-level LED lights for nighttime operations.

Strategic placement of handrails and grips enhances safety under all conditions, complemented by a substantial forward breakwater. The command center offers near-complete circular visibility, which is vital for all-weather navigation.

The aft deck houses a 5.2-meter Metal Shark aluminum RIB, capable of carrying up to 10 individuals, powered by twin 50-horsepower outboards. This RIB can be deployed using a crane or a specially designed stern slipway for smooth operations while underway.

Visibility and control from the wheelhouse are prioritized in the 115 Defiant's design, minimizing blind spots and placing essential controls and systems within easy reach. The wheelhouse is spacious, climate-controlled, and features advanced shock-absorbing floors and durable, easy-to-clean surfaces.

The vessel is arranged to accommodate a crew of 24 on prolonged maritime operations. It includes separate living quarters and facilities for officers and crew, strategically isolated from operational areas to ensure rest without disruption from ongoing activities. The main deck houses officers’ accommodations, complete with amenities, while the crew quarters are located below, on the sub-deck.
