Terma’s C-Guard soft-kill system is a decoy launching system for naval platforms made to defeat multiple attacks form multiple directions. The C-Guard offers full protection against above and below water threats, and it supports the latest generation of decoys including sub-munition based decoys and dual IR/RF decoys.

The C-Guard provides naval vessels with both Anti-Air Warfare (AAW) and Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) soft-kill protection in one system solution based on the standard 130 mm NATO Sea Gnat launchers.

Terma and DCNS have jointly developed a semi-automatic Torpedo Defence Solution in C-Guard utilizing the CANTO anti-torpedo decoy. This solution also uses the 130 mm C-Guard launchers to launch the CANTO decoy through the embedded CONTRALTO reaction software module.

In May 2016, DCNS, Chemring Countermeasures, and Terma successfully conducted joint operational trials of their Torpedo Defence Solution. The trials, facilitated by The Royal Danish Navy (RDN) and The Danish Defense Acquisition and Logistics Organization (DALO), were performed from the Danish Frigate HDMS IVER HUITFELDT.

C-Guard is now the first and currently the only Decoy Launching System fully integrated with the CONTRALTO module and the CANTO 130 mm anti-torpedo hence fully qualified to deploy CANTO 130 mm decoys.

Terma has 150+ C-Guard systems in operation worldwide. The system is easy to install and offers simple and effective training and maintenance procedures. The decoys will be placed in the best way to confuse/distract/seduce torpedoes and missiles together with a ship evasive maneuver proposal.

Furthermore, it offers a small footprint, low total cost of ownership (TCO), and high mean time between failure (MTBF). This results in a cost-effective solution with a high degree of operational time.
