LIMA 2019: Malaysian Prime Minister headed an International Fleet Review


Yesterday, on March 27, Malaysian Prime Minister, Mr. Tun Doctor Mahathir Mohamad, reviewed the fleet taking part in LIMA 2019. The event took place at the Resorts World Langkawi (RWL) during the 15th edition of the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace exhibition in Malaysia.

Aboard the KD Perantau, a hydrographic military survey vessel of the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN), the Prime Minister received the salute from 40 vessels coming from various countries, including Malaysia, India, Australia, Indonesia, South Korea, China, and the USA.

Among the vessels that came for the International Fleet Review (IFR), there were, of course, Malaysian vessels such as the KD Gagah Samudera training ship and the KD Lekiu frigate (FFG30) of the Royal Malaysian Navy. But also the KD Tunku Abdul Rahman submarine, the KD Mahawangsa multi-role support ship, the KD Jebat (FFG29), the KD Kasturi, the KD Laksamana Hang Nadim, the KD Laksamana Tan Pusmah, and the KD Laksamana Muhamad Amin.

But there were also warships coming from other countries, including the Indian Navy’s anti-submarine warfare (ASW) corvette INS Kadmatt (P29), the Royal Australian Navy’s Diamantina minehunter, the Yueyang Jiangkai II FFG (Type 054A frigate) of the PLA Navy, and the Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Preble (DDG 88) of the US Navy.
