RAM-System GmbH is a joint venture in charge of program management and marketing of the RAM (Rolling Airframe Missile) naval self-defense missile system in Europe. RAM-System also controls the German share in the US ESSM and Standard Missile SM-2 production programs.

The RIM-116 Rolling Airframe Missile (RAM) is a lightweight, quick-reaction, a fire-and-forget missile designed to destroy anti-ship cruise missiles and asymmetric air and surface threats.

The missile was developed as a cooperative program between the U.S. and German governments and continues to be cooperatively produced and supported.

It is designed as a high-firepower, low-cost, self-defense system against anti-ship cruise missiles and other asymmetric threats. For all versions of the missile, there is no shipboard support required (i.e., no illuminators) after the missile launch.

The RIM-116 Missile has a length of 2.8 meters, a diameter of 127 millimeters, and a weight of 74 kg.
