The UAE Armed forces has showed interest for a new air coastal missile system. To response to this new request, Yugoimport from Serbia has developed a sea version of its ALAS missile under the name of Alas-S.

ALAS missile featuring aerodynamic configuration “canard”, is powered by combination of solid rocket booster engines and turbojet engine TMM-040. The missile is launched at elevation not less than 60 degrees with the aid of solid rocket engines, which propels the missile at the altitude of 300 m, after which turbojet engine is activated. Maximum range of the missile is 25 km, with the possibility of extending the maximum range up to 60 km. Maximum speed of the missile is 180 m/s.

The launcher vehicle of ALAS-S is based on a NIMR 6x6 vehicle platform with 6 containers in two rows of three each containing one ALAS-S missile mounted at the rear of the vehicle.
