The U.S. Navy USS Gravely (DDG 107) Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer is completing a Drydock Selected Restricted Availability (DSRA) executed by General Dynamics NASSCO-Norfolk. Mid-Atlantic Regional Maintenance Center (MARMC) is managing the maintenance availability which is expected to be certified complete after sea trials.
The MARMC provides surface ship maintenance, management and oversight of private sector maintenance and fleet technical assistance to ships in the Mid-Atlantic region.
The USS Gravely (DDG-107) is an Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer in service with the United States Navy. She is the 57th destroyer in her class. She was authorized on 13 September 2002 and her keel was laid down on 26 November 2007 at Northrop Grumman Shipbuilding's Ingalls Shipbuilding shipyard in Pascagoula, Mississippi. Gravely was launched on 30 March 2009. She successfully completed sea trial in June 2010. She was commissioned at Wilmington, North Carolina on 20 November 2010.
The Arleigh Burke-class employs all-steel construction and comprises four separate variants or "Flights." DDG 51-71 represent the original design and are designated as Flight I ships; DDG 72-78 are Flight II ships; DDGs 79-116 are Flight IIA ships in service, and will continue through DDGs 124 and 127.
The USS Gravely (DDG 107) is powered by four General Electric LM2500-30 gas turbines, each rated at 33,600hp with a power turbine speed of 3,600rpm, driving two shafts with controllable pitch propellers. She can reach a top speed of 30 kn (56 km/h; 35 mph). The ship has a crew of 312 officers and sailors.
The USS Gravely is armed with one 5-inch (127 mm)/62 caliber Mk 45 Mod 4 naval gun, two 25 mm Mk 38 Automatic cannons, four .50 cal (12.7 mm) machine guns, one 20 mm Phalanx CIWS (Close-In Weapon System), two Mk 32 triple torpedo tubes for Mk 46 torpedoes, 96-cell Mk 41 VLS Vertical Launching System able to launch RIM-66 Standard Surface-to-Air Missile 2, BGM-109 Tomahawk long-range cruise missile and RUM-139 VL-ASROC anti-submarine missiles.
