The CP420 “Natale De Grazia” is a patrol boat in service with the Italian Coast Guard that was launched in December 2020. The CP420 is the first patrol boat in a new class of vessels named Angeli del Mare – Angels of the Sea – designed and manufactured by the Italian company Intermarine.

The CP420 patrol boat is designed and developed to perform the vital task assigned to the Italian Coast Guard by history and by law: sea search and rescue, a mission that the new boat is able to perform even in the most testing meteorological and marine conditions. The Italian Coast Guard is a military organization, appointed for several of the coast guard functions defined by the European Union, such as, e.g., search and rescue, fishing control, and maritime traffic monitoring.

Rohde & Schwarz (R&S) offers proven and reliable NAVICS® ICS for all on-board communications and SOVERON® for all external communications. The CP420 is equipped with R&S M3SR Series4100 high frequency (HF) radios that enable authorities to patrol these large coastal areas and will allow the ship's crew to effectively exchange information with the shore and other vessels, as well as joint forces and governmental authorities. The HF radios from Rohde & Schwarz also provide a security architecture that allows secure voice communications, i.e. third parties will not be able to intercept the information exchange.
