Iran launches destroyer Dena and minesweeper Shahin


According to information published by Press TV on June 14, 2021, the destroyer Dena and the minesweeper Shahin joined the Iranian naval fleet in the southern port city of Bandar Abbas during a ceremony attended by military commanders.

Destroyer Dena has a weight of over 1,300 tonnes, a length of 94 meters, and a width of 11 meters.

The destroyer is equipped with a 76mm cannon, two 20mm cannons, two Mehrab missiles, four Ghadir, Qader cruise missiles, and two 324mm torpedo launchers.

The Mehrab missile is an Iranian-designed, intermediate-range surface-to-air smart missile. The first ninety units have been tested and unveiled. It can target goals in land, sea, and air.

The Ghadir missile is an Iranian anti-ship cruise missile with a range of 330 km. The missile is capable of being employed both from shore and from ships afloat. The missile was unveiled in Tehran in 2014 in an event attended by Hossein Dehghan, Defense Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The minehunter Shahin is the first-ever minesweeper made by Iran, with a length of 33 meters and a width of 11 meters.
