Russia to conduct naval exercise with Iran and China

The Pacific Fleet’s naval group made up of the Guards Order of Nakhimov missile cruiser Varyag, the large anti-submarine warfare ship Admiral Tributs and the Boris Chilikin class sea tanker Boris Butoma has anchored in the roadstead of the Chabahar port in the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The Pacific Fleet’s naval task force departed from Vladivostok and embarked on its long-distance deployment several days before the new year 2022.

During their long-term deployment, the Russian naval ships are scheduled to call at the ports of several states, including the Republic of Seychelles.

The Boris Chilikin class also known as Project 1559V Morskoy prostor (Sea space) is a series of fleet replenishment oilers built in the 1970s for the Soviet Navy and currently in service with the Russian Navy.

The maximum length of the ship is 162.3 m (532.5 ft), the maximum width is 21.4 m (70.2 ft), and the draft is 9.0 m (29.5 ft). When in standard load, the ship has a displacement of about 6,950 tons and 22,460 tons while fully loaded.

The endurance of the ships is 90 days during which they can travel a distance of about 22,000 km (12,000 nmi).
