According to information published by the UK MoD on February 3, 2023, HMS Spey became the first Royal Navy warship to visit Pyeongtaek in a busy visit to the Republic of Korea.

The HMS Spey is a Batch 2 River-class offshore patrol vessel of the Royal Navy, named after the River Spey in Scotland. She is the eighth ship to carry the name and is part of the second batch of River-class vessels. The ship is deployed long-term in the Indo-Pacific region with its sister ship, the HMS Tamar.
She has a full load displacement of 2,000 metric tons and is 90.5 meters (296 feet 11 inches) in length and 13 meters (42 feet 8 inches) in beam. The draft of the vessel is 3.8 meters (12 feet 6 inches), which allows it to operate in shallow waters.
The maximum speed of the vessel is 25 knots (46 km/h; 29 mph) with a range of 5,500 nautical miles (10,200 km; 6,300 mi) and an endurance of 35 days.
The HMS Spey is equipped with two rigid-hull inflatable boats (RHIBs) for landing operations and can accommodate up to 50 troops. The crew size ranges from 34 to 45 members.
The armament of the vessel includes a 30mm DS30B gun, 4 general purpose machine guns, 2 miniguns, and 2 Browning .50 caliber machine guns. The flight deck is capable of supporting a Merlin helicopter, adding to the versatility of the vessel.
