Juan Carlos I
Juan Carlos I is a Spanish Navy amphibious assault ship-aircraft carrier named after former King Juan Carlos I. She serves as a platform for supporting the mobility of the Marines and strategic transport of ground forces and also as a replacement for the retired aircraft carrier Príncipe de Asturias.
The ship has a displacement of 26,000 tonnes, a length of 230.82 meters, a beam of 32 meters, and a draught of 6.9 meters. The vessel is powered by 2 x 11 MW PODs and has a speed of 21 knots with a range of 9,000 nautical miles at 15 knots.
She can carry 913 soldiers and up to 46 Leopard 2E tanks and has a crew complement of 261 for the ship's company and 172 for the air wing. The ship is equipped with various sensors and processing systems, including LANZA-N air search and PAR aircraft landing, and is armed with 4 x 20 mm guns, 2 x BPDMS, 1 x VLS, and 4 x 12.7 mm machine guns. The aircraft carried by Juan Carlos I include the AV-8B Harrier II, Chinook, Sea King, and NH90.
Galicia
Galicia (L51) is the lead ship of the Galicia-class landing platform dock and is commissioned in the Spanish Navy. The vessel is designed to transport Spanish marines, participate in humanitarian aid missions, and provide general logistic support.
She has a history of participating in various missions, including anti-piracy operations, humanitarian aid, and supporting COVID-19 response efforts in Spain.
The landing platform dock Galicia has a length of 160 meters overall and 142 meters at the waterline, with a beam of 25 meters and a draft of 5.9 meters.
