About the VFM

The VFMs (Vedettes des fusiliers-marins) are 15-meter-long boats made of composite material (CVR) and equipped with four 350 hp engines for a speed of 40 knots.

They will be used for escort, surveillance, and protection missions against terrorist attacks, and will have an intervention and neutralization capability to deny access to an exclusion zone.

The twelve VFMs will be delivered to the naval bases of Toulon, Brest, and Cherbourg, and two will be delivered to Djibouti. They will be transported on road trailers to facilitate their rapid movement.
