According to a PR published by Naval Group on July 18, 2023, at a ceremony held in its home port of Toulon, the Jacques Chevallier, the first of the four BRFs in the "FlotLog" program, was accepted by the French defense procurement agency (DGA) for delivery to the French Navy.

Launched in 2019 and constructed at Saint-Nazaire by Naval Group and Chantiers de l’Atlantique, Jacques Chevallier arrived at its home port in Toulon in March 2023 for a sea trial campaign dedicated to the at-sea resupply system (supplied by Chantiers de l’Atlantique) and the combat and communication system (provided by Naval Group).
The vessel successfully completed its initial phase of sea trials and now joins the French Navy's naval action force.
The final assembly of the second BRF, Jacques Stosskopf, will begin in Saint-Nazaire at the start of 2024, with delivery scheduled for 2025.
With a larger freight and fuel carrying capacity than their predecessors, as well as improved tactical capabilities, these BRFs are designed to replace the current replenishment oilers and will support the carrier battle group and the naval action groups.
BRF Jacques Chevallier
The BRF Jacques Chevallier is the first in a series of four ships under the FlotLog program, whose order was placed in January 2019 by the Temporary Business Group formed by Chantiers de l’Atlantique and Naval Group.
The FlotLog program is overseen by the DGA, in cooperation with Italy, as part of a contract held by the Organisation for Joint Armament Cooperation (OCCAR).
Chantiers de l’Atlantique oversees the design and construction of all four vessels and is responsible for the integration and assembly of onboard systems.
Naval Group is responsible for designing, developing, integrating, and maintaining the ship's military systems, including the combat system and systems contributing to the aircraft reception capacity and ammunition loading.
Technical data
The supply vessels have a full load displacement of 31,000 tons and dimensions that span an overall length of 194 meters and an overall width of 27.60 meters.
They provide accommodation for a total of 200 individuals, comprising 140 crew members and an additional 60 passengers. These vessels have a fuel carrying capacity of 13,000 cubic meters and an installed power of 24 MW.
