The Akeron MP is an anti-tank guided missile designed to improve upon the limitations of the MILAN missile in small-scale and counter-insurgency operations post-2000.

It was designed to reduce collateral damage to nearby civilians and to be safe for operators within a confined space. The missile contains modern and commercial off-the-shelf electronics, making it much faster in development compared to traditional military procurement processes.

The missile offers three different operating modes: fire-and-forget, man-in-the-loop with optical fiber data-link, and lock-on after launch (LOAL) for non-line-of-sight (NLOS) and using third-party target designation.

The missile uses a tandem warhead, making it effective against conventional, composite, and reactive armor, and can spray 1,500 tungsten splinters upon detonation, effective against personnel out to 15 meters.

The MMP is considered the first land combat missile of the 5th generation due to its dual-band seeker in both IR and visible low-light video, which enables the engagement of hot and cold targets in all visibility conditions.

The firing post of the infantry version features a high-resolution infrared cooled sensor and a daylight TV camera, allowing for all-weather reconnaissance and threat evaluation functions.

The missile integrates an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) in MEMS technology, allowing in-flight targeting and re-targeting for lock-on after launch (LOAL) operations.

Weighing just over two kilograms, the MMP's new 115 mm caliber multipurpose warhead features a tandem charge and two selectable modes, anti-armour and anti-infrastructure, with an anti-personnel capability. It is lightweight and easily man-portable, and can be safely fired from confined spaces with reduced blast both behind and forward of the launcher.

The missile has a range of 4,000 meters but was able to hit targets at 5,000 meters during test firings. The Akeron MP is an advanced anti-tank guided missile that overcomes many limitations of its predecessors and is ideal for modern warfare scenarios.
