Alireza Tangsiri has announced the successful arming of the newly revealed maritime vessel, "Zolfaghar" (Zulfiqar), with the "Navab" missile system capable of vertical launches.

He stressed the vital need for aerial defense on these maritime platforms, reminding everyone of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces' strong emphasis on such protections.

The Defense Ministry and its Armed Forces Support division have taken significant strides in missile technology, as evidenced by the successful outfitting of "Navab" and "Sayyad 3" missile systems on the combat vessel "Shahid Soleimani."

The "Zolfaghar" platform, which operates in coordination with other combat vessels and missile systems, demanded the integration of the "Navab" missile to fortify its aerial defense.

This achievement marked a significant first, where a 16-meter maritime platform successfully launched a surface-to-air missile. The Commander also highlighted the substantial progress made by the Air Defense Organization within the Defense Ministry in terms of surface-to-surface and cruise missile technology, with "Navab" serving a crucial role in safeguarding the vessels.

Regarding future initiatives, Tangsiri stated that the "Navab" missile systems would be incorporated into additional maritime platforms, with 12 of such systems already installed on the "Shahid Soleimani" and four on the "Zolfaghar."

Additionally, the IRGC Navy has engineered two variants of air defense missiles, the "Kowsar 200" and "Kowsar 222," which have the ability to cover distances of 5-7 kilometers and 17 kilometers, respectively, and can target drones, cruise missiles, and helicopters.
