The upcoming missile, with its innovative features, is expected to serve as the main weapon system for the Navy's next-generation strategic nuclear missile submarines. The missile's structure will intriguingly influence the submarines' design, embodying the "submarine for the missile" principle.

Design development for weapons and submarines traditionally happens concurrently. Yet, the pace is often faster for weapons designers, who develop the preliminary designs that are then refined by those designing the carriers, ensuring optimum compatibility and efficacy of the weapon systems.

Projected to serve for 25-30 years, these missiles represent a forward-thinking strategy, crucial as we gear up for the creation of next-generation submarines. The current Bulava, installed on missile submarines, is anticipated to have a comparable service life.

The ability of the new missiles to assuredly counter any missile defense system and maintain high precision over extended flight distances is significant. These features will heavily influence the design and capabilities of future submarines.
