Indonesia Navy names two new Sampari class fast attack craft


According to a tweet published by PT Pal on May 17, 2023, the Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral TNI Muhammad Ali, has officially named the 5th and 6th 60m Fast Attack Craft (KCR) of PT PAL Indonesia. The ceremony took place at the West Peninsula Dock, General Engineering Division, where the two 60m KCRs were formally christened KRI Kapak-625 and KRI Panah-626.

On this occasion, the CEO of PT PAL Indonesia also stated that both ships have successfully completed the Sea Acceptance Test (SAT), achieving average speeds exceeding the contract requirements.

Looking back, both of these 60m KCRs have successfully passed several Harbor Acceptance Test (HAT) and Sea Acceptance Test (SAT) series, up to the Life Firing Test (LFT).

Not only that, on April 10-11, 2023, KCR 60m Kapak-625 and Panah-626 were declared passed in the Commodore Inspection, the final test by high-ranking officers from the Indonesian Ministry of Defense and Navy HQ, with excellent performance ratings. This generation of KCR has undergone significant changes compared to its predecessors, with better and more proportionate layout and design.

About the Batch I Sampari class KCR

With a displacement of 460 tons and a length of 60.3 m (197 ft 10 in), these vessels have a beam of 8.1 m (26 ft 7 in). They are powered by 2 × 3600KW MTU 20V 4000M73L propulsion systems, allowing them to reach speeds of up to 28 knots (52 km/h; 32 mph).

These ships also have an extensive range of 2,400 nautical miles (4,445 km; 2,762 mi) and can endure for 8 days. The complement on board each ship is 43 personnel.
