The Type 056 corvette is a class of warship that is currently in service with the Chinese People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN). The Algerian Navy has ordered 3 of them.

The Type 56 corvette has a displacement of 1,500 tons and measures 90 meters (300 ft) in length and 11.14 meters (36.5 ft) in beam. Its draft is 4 meters (13 ft).

The ship is powered by two SEMT Pielstick PA6-STC diesel motors, allowing it to reach a maximum speed of 25 knots (46 km/h; 29 mph) with a range of 3,500 nautical miles (6,500 km; 4,000 mi) at 16 knots (30 km/h; 18 mph). The crew consists of 78 personnel.

The corvette is equipped with a variety of sensors and processing systems, including a Type 360 air/surface search radar, a Type 347G fire control radar, a bow sonar, and a towed array and variable depth sonar (Type 056A).

For armament, the ship has a single AK-176 76 mm gun, two H/PJ-17 30 mm autocannons, two 2-cell YJ-83 anti-ship missiles amidships, an 8-cell FL-3000N SAM launcher, and two triple 324 mm torpedo tubes. Additionally, she has a helipad capable of accommodating one medium-lift helicopter, such as the Harbin Z-9.
