During IMDEX Asia 2017, the international maritime defence exhibition held last month in Singapore, Navy Recognition had the chance to get aboard the latest addition to the Republic of Singapore Navy's (RSN) fleet: RSS Independence, the first of the next generation Littoral Mission Vessel (LMV), designed and built by local shipyard ST Marine.

IMDEX Asia 2017: Austal’s Pacific Patrol Boat Program draws interest from South East Asia
Austal’s Pacific Patrol Boat has commenced construction following the cutting of steel on the first vessel in Perth, Western Australia. The A$306 million Pacific Patrol Boat Replacement (SEA3036) Project is the first element of the Australian Government’s A$89 billion Continuous Naval Shipbuilding Program which will includes twelve Submarines (SEA1000), twelve Offshore Patrol Vessels (SEA1180) and nine Future Frigates (SEA5000) for the Royal Australian Navy.

At IMDEX Asia 2017, the international maritime defence exhibition currently held in Singapore, local shipyard ST Marine launched its new Vanguard series. The Vanguard series of naval vessels is a series of platforms that deliver multiple modular capabilities with one design.

Singapore's Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) announced today that it was procuring two more Type 218SG submarines during the IMDEX Asia 2017 exhibition in Singapore. The MINDEF has signed a contract with TKMS which includes a logistics package and a crew training arrangement in Germany as well.

Singapore's Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen opened the 11th International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (IMDEX) Asia at the Changi Exhibition Centre this morning.

This year, the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) commemorates her Golden Jubilee. As part of the anniversary celebrations, the RSN hosted Singapore's inaugural International Maritime Review (IMR) on 15 May 2017. The IMR was an opportunity for the RSN to welcome its allies from around the world for its 50th anniversary celebrations.

President Tony Tan Keng Yam reviewed the inaugural Singapore International Review (IMR) at RSS Singapura - Changi Naval Base this morning. The IMR was attend by 46 warships and four aircraft, as well as more than 30 navy chiefs, vice navy chiefs and directors-general of coast guards, and more than 40 flag rank officers, from 44 participating nations.

Defence and security company Saab will exhibit at the IMDEX Asia 2017 international martime defence exhibition and conference, at the Changi Exhibition Centre, Singapore, from 16 to 18 May. IMDEX Asia is a key event for the expanding Asia Pacific naval market. Saab has a strong presence at IMDEX to underline our long-standing commitment to the Republic of Singapore and to reinforce our links across the entire region.
