The Russian Navy has tested a new control system with artificial intellect elements. Air, ground and sea forces were for the first time united into a single information contour at an exercise in the Caspian Sea, the Izvestia daily writes.

The Vasily Bykov corvette (patrol ship) of project 22160 left Sevastopol for combat duty in the Mediterranean Sea. It will then sail to St. Petersburg to participate in the main naval parade. The Dmitry Rogachev second Corvette of the project joined the Black Sea fleet. They are new combat units which expand the capabilities of the Russian Navy, the Izvestia daily writes.
Mil.Press Flotprom online publication published a regular annual rating of Russian and US Navy capabilities. Although 2018 was generally productive for the Russian Navy which received seven warships, its position against the US Navy deteriorated. The publication said Russian Navy capabilities comprised 45 percent of the US Navy in 2018. CMN Shipyard in Cherbourg, France, conducted sea trials on the 13th June 2018 on the OPV Thémis from the French Coastguard (Affaires Maritimes). The patrol vessel received a hydrodynamic upgrade at the shipyard by retrofitting the patented Hull Vane®, an underwater wing which reduces the ship’s resistance. Comparison with the benchmark sea trials – conducted in January in exactly the same conditions – by CMN’s sea trial team showed a reduction in fuel consumption of 18% at 12 knots, 27% at 15 knots and 22% at 20 knots. The top speed increased from 19.7 knots to 21 knots.
