ADSB and YahSat to collaborate on satellite communication system for project Baynunah

At IDEX 2013, visitors can take a closer look at this modular, fully digital electro-optical director (EOD).
Abu Dhabi Ship Building (ADSB), the leading provider of construction, repair and refit services for naval, military and commercial vessels and Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (YahSat) announced Wednesday 21st February the award of a contract to fit state-of-the-art satellite communications systems to the complete fleet of UAE Navy Baynunah class corvettes.

DCI's Maritime Training Ship "Almak" construction is well underway
 
Abu Dhabi - DCI jointly created with Piriou the company NavOcéan, last July, in order to be equipped with a Maritime Training Ship (MTS). This 44-meter ship, to be named «ALMAK», is currently being built in Concarneau by the Piriou group.

CMN unveiled a new trimaran patrol craft design at NAVDEX 2013: The OCEAN EAGLE 40
 
Cherbourg (France) based shipyard CMN unveiled its latest concept during NAVDEX 2013 in Abu Dhabi: The Ocean Eagle 40 trimaran patrol craft. Specifically designed for anti-piracy and counter-terrorism operations, the Ocean Eagle 40 is capable of both high speeds and long endurance.

DCNS Gowind® OPV "L'Adroit" visited IDEX and NAVDEX 2013
 
DCNS participated to NAVDEX and IDEX exhibitions in Abu Dhabi from 17 to 21 February 2013. It was a chance for the Group DCNS to showcase its expertise in this key export market and to meet key players. On this occasion the Gowind® OPV L'Adroit was moored in the NAVDEX area, in Abu Dhabi.
DCNS participated to NAVDEX and IDEX exhibitions in Abu Dhabi from 17 to 21 February 2013. It was a chance for the Group DCNS to showcase its expertise in this key export market and to meet key players. On this occasion the Gowind® OPV L'Adroit was moored in the NAVDEX area, in Abu Dhabi.
 

MBDA at NAVDEX 2013: First export order for SIMBAD-RC short range naval air defense system
 
During NAVDEX 2013 Oto Melara, a world leader in naval weapon systems, presented for the first time a full scale model of its HITROLE-G RWS naval weapon system.

MBDA has signed a first contract with an export customer for the acquisition of its naval air defence system SIMBAD-RC, one year after launching its self-financed development. The first prototypes are currently in the production process and initial deliveries will take place in 2015. The system will be installed on a fleet of patrol vessels and each vessel will be equipped with two turrets.

Zodiac MILPRO has supplied two top-of-the- range In board diesel RIBS for use by the advanced new Offshore Patrol Vessel : L’ Adroit. The 87 metre vessel built by DCNS Group will be presented at Navdex. The Zodiac Hurricane Ribs will be central to many of the duties of L’Adroit and will be deployed from a unique launching ramp in the Adroit’s stern. This will enable the RIB to be launched and recovered quickly and safely in extreme sea conditions .

The OCEAN EAGLE 40 shall be shortly presented during the next IDEX / NAVDEX exhibitions in Abu Dhabi.

New BAE Systems 40 Mk4 Naval Gun is 40 Percent Lighter Cheaper and Smaller
 
Sea trials at the end of 2012 marked the end of the development phase for a new naval gun from BAE Systems’ Weapon Systems & Support business at Karlskoga in Sweden. The latest version of the 40Mk4 naval gun uses electrical power rather than hydraulic systems to aim the gun. As a result it is at least 40 per cent lighter, smaller and cheaper, making it ideal for smaller patrol and anti-piracy craft.
