The annual naval drills, which traditionally involve France, Russia, Britain and the United States, practice interoperability for future joint operations.

Royal Navy hails Thales Captas-4 S2087 towed Variable Depth Sonar (VDS) as ‘world’s best’
 
Thales UK’s state-of-the-art Sonar 2087 – fitted to a Royal Navy (RN) Type 23 frigate – has played a vital role in a major international anti-submarine warfare (ASW) exercise in the Gulf of Oman. HMS Westminster and a Trafalgar-class submarine led the RN’s involvement in Exercise Arabian Shark, a test of Coalition navies to deal with submarines in the Arabian Sea. During the exercise, the RN described the combined ASW capabilities of the ship and helicopter sonar as being ‘the best in the world’

French Navy orders 76mm Naval Ammunition from Diehl
 
Diehl Defence has received an order from France to develop and qualify modern naval ammunition. It constitutes a refinement of the 76 mm naval ammunition employed worldwide. The new ammunition is being realized with insensitive explosives and is scheduled for deployment in the Oto Melara SUPER RAPIDO L-62 naval guns of the new frigates FREMM and HORIZON from 2015. The 76 mm ammunition is capable of engaging both air and sea targets as well as coastal targets.

Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding signs contract for SIGMA 10514 Frigate for Indonesian Navy
 
The Ministry of Defence of Indonesia and Damen Schelde Naval Shipbuilding, The Netherlands today signed a contract for the engineering, build and delivery of a SIGMA 10514 Guided Missile Frigate, PKR (Perusak Kawal Rudal). The PKR will be built for the Indonesian Navy, TNI AL, and is to be delivered in 2016.

Mississippi, built under a unique teaming agreement between General Dynamics Electric Boat and Huntington Ingalls Industries - Newport News, delivered to the Navy in just over 62 months - the fastest delivery yet for a Virginia class submarine. All Virginia class submarines currently under construction are on track to deliver early to the Navy.

The U.S. Navy May 31st awarded Huntington Ingalls Industries a $2.38 billion fixed-price-incentive contract for the detail design and construction of the multipurpose amphibious assault ship Tripoli (LHA 7). The ship will be built at the company's Ingalls Shipbuilding division.
