New details, pictures on Indian Navy's Future Kolkata class Destroyer
 
During DEFEXPO 2014, Indian shipbuilder Mazagon Dock Limited gave us details on its "Project 15A", the Indian Navy's future Kolkata class guided missile destroyer (DDG). The lead ship has just completed sea trials and is undergoing some minor final work before being ended to the Indian Navy in March 2014.

General Atomics showcased its Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System at Defexpo 2014
 
At Defexpo, US Company General Atomics showcased its Electromagnetic Aircraft Launch System (EMALS). Navy Recognition learned that eventhough the technology would have to be cleared for export by the US congress, General Atomics is activelly seeking to export the system to potential customers such as India, Brazil and even France in the future.

ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems Exhibiting at Defexpo India 2014
 
ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, one of the leading European system providers for non-nuclear submarines and high-end naval vessels, participated at the Defexpo India 2014, New Delhi, from February 6 to 9, 2014. At the ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems visitors could experience an interactive display of a wide range of submarines, missile systems and naval surface ships.
ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems, one of the leading European system providers for non-nuclear submarines and high-end naval vessels, participated at the Defexpo India 2014, New Delhi, from February 6 to 9, 2014. At the ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems visitors could experience an interactive display of a wide range of submarines, missile systems and naval surface ships.
 

DCNS showcased its naval expertise at Defexpo India 2014
 
At the centre of the focus, the Scorpene submarine which Mazagon Dock Limited (MDL) is producing under ToT from DCNS was displayed. MDL has successfully absorbed the TOTs for hull manufacturing. The hulls of the 6 submarines are completed. The outfitting of these hull sections is now progressing as per schedule. The First of Class P75 built in MDL should be ready to start Harbour tests and sea trials as per schedule indicated by MDL. The first Scorpene submarine is to be commissioned in 2015.

Sagem to modernize optronics on French navy's Air Defense Frigates
 
New Delhi, Defexpo India, February 7th, 2014. The French defense procurement agency DGA (Direction générale de l’armement) has announced its choice of Sagem (Safran) to modernize the optronic systems on four Horizon and Cassard class air defense frigates in the French navy. These ships will be equipped with Sagem’s EOMS-NG, New-Generation Electro-Optical Multifunction System.

Goa Shipyard unveils new OPV design for export at DEFEXPO 2014
 
At DEFEXPO 2014, Indian shipbuilder Goa Shipyard Limited unveiled for the first time a new 75 meters Offshore Patrol Vessel (OPV) design. According to a Goa shipyard representative, this new OPV which is partially based on the existing 105 meters Saryu class OPV, is mainly intended for the export market.

At DEFEXPO 2014, the international Defence exhibition currently held in New Delhi, Indian shipyard PIPAVAV unveiled its new "Naval Offshore Patrol Vessel" design. The basic design of this new type of OPV was outsourced to a US based ship design company.
