The
Yasen class, developed by the St. Petersburg Malakhit
design bureau and built by Sevmash shipyard, is
a fourth-generation multirole attack nuclear-powered
submarine.
The head of class, Severodvinsk took 17 years to
build and the sub was officially launched in June
2010. The Russian Navy reportedly plans to order
6 to 10 Yasen-class submarines through 2020.
