American company Textron Systems Corp., headquartered in New Orleans, Louisiana, has secured a substantial contract valued at $241 million from the United States Department of Defense (DOD). The contract, announced by the United States DoD (Department of Defense) on August 4, 2023, is directed toward the procurement of LCAC 100 Class material and non-recurring activities, with the ultimate goal of facilitating the construction of five Ship to Shore Connector (SSC) Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC) 100 Class vessels.

On August 1, 2023, the US Navy granted two fixed-price incentive multiyear contracts for the construction of a total of 9 Arleigh Burke-class (DDG 51) destroyers. The contracts have been divided, with Huntington Ingalls of Mississippi awarded one contract for the construction of 6 ships, and Bath Iron Works in Maine granted the other contract for the construction of three ships.

According to a tweet from Tendar on August 5, 2023, a Russian oil tanker named "Sig" was struck by a Ukrainian naval drone in the Kerch Strait, just off Crimea. This attack comes as the second naval incident within 24 hours, following the targeting of a Russian landing ship of the Ropucha class outside the port of Novorossiysk in the Black Sea the previous day. Navy Recognition reported this incident on August 4, 2023.
